The British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) is seeking a part-time Digital Assistant to support its website and social media output on a three-month FTC.

If you have a passion for using communication to help others, a keen interest in sport, and an understanding of the digital world, this could be a role for you.

About the British Elite Athletes Association

The BEAA is the independent representative body for Britain’s elite athletes, providing support, representation and community to our members at the top of Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Our team provides confidential, direct support on issues such as mental health, selection, classification, welfare and legal concerns – by listening, advising, and referring athletes to other expert bodies.

We also elevate the athlete voice and advocate in their interests via direct contact with the community.

About you

We’re looking for a self-starter who can work with autonomy while carefully considering their output. The position would be ideal for a student with relevant experience or a recent graduate, however university-level education is not a requirement.

Essential

  • You must be passionate about sport and about making the sporting world a better place;
  • You will be a confident writer for both long- and short-form content, and have a strong appreciation for communicating in a social-friendly way;
  • Solid understanding of digital channels, especially social media;
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to work independently;
  • This is a remote role, so strong communication abilities are a must, both for external delivery and in maintaining a dialogue with colleagues. You will be expected to create and pitch ideas without being prompted, but to ensure everything is carried out in-line with the organisation’s values.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and/or experience of British Olympic and Paralympic sport is a strong advantage;
  • Basic ability with Photoshop and/or Premiere, or similar editing software.

Key responsibilities

The postholder will help the BEAA capitalise on increased awareness of and interest in Olympic and Paralympic sport during the Paris 2024 Games. The successful applicant will both elevate the organisation’s digital channels and enable the Communications Manager to commit time to other topics.

The successful applicant will:

  • Assist the Communications Manager in ensuring engaging and consistent digital output designed to inform our stakeholders and members across a variety of social media channels and our website;
  • Maintain an appropriate tone across all channels;
  • Create and pitch suitable ideas for one-off or recurring content either on our website or social channels, or both;
  • Pay close attention to news and events emerging from Paris, and suggest appropriate responses where necessary.

This is a fixed-term contract from roughly July 1-September 8 2024. The successful applicant will be expected to work 09-17:00 two days a week throughout, although these hours are flexible to best suit both parties’ interests.

The exact structure will be agreed upon offer. Please note, this job will be remote. Applicants must be based within the United Kingdom.

To apply

Please send a CV and c.250-word cover letter outlining your suitability for the role to media@britisheliteathletes.org.

In your cover letter, tell us something we won’t know from your CV, and in particular demonstrate your experience and knowledge of working on digital channels.

The British Elite Athletes Association takes seriously its role in recognising and removing any barriers faced by people involved, or wanting to be involved, in sport, in any capacity, to ensure the culture of sport is improved to one that values diversity and enables the full involvement of disadvantaged groups in every aspect. The BEAA is an inclusive organisation and welcomes applications from ethnic minority candidates, those with a disability and members of the LGBGTQ+ community.
