A quartet of athletes have been shortlisted for February’s Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award.

Sabrina Fortune (para-athletics), Makayla Gerken Schofield (skiing), Anna Morris (cycling), and Matt Weston (skeleton) have all been shortlisted for the prize, which is presented by the British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) in recognition of both sporting and personal triumphs.

The winner will be decided by current and former World Class Programme athletes who comprise the BEAA’s membership and alumni.

Sabrina, a gold medallist at last summer’s Paralympics, delivered an excellent performance at this month’s UK Indoor Athletics Championships. The 27-year-old, who competes in shot put’s F20 category, shattered her own world record by a remarkable 38cm to set a new lifetime best of 15.50m. That throw was enough to secure her bronze in the women’s final in Birmingham.

Mogul skier, Makayla, is shortlisted after her comeback from a lengthy injury layoff resulted in a top-10 finish at the Val St Come Moguls World Cup. After missing 10 months due to a complex knee injury, the 25-year-old returned with a 10thplace finish and followed that up with 12th in the Dual Moguls competition to record her fourth successive top-20 finish.

It proved to be an excellent February for Anna, who broke the women’s individual pursuit world record three times in a week. The Olympic bronze medallist set a new record twice in one day en route to winning gold in the 4km individual pursuit at the 2025 UEC Elite Track European Championships and did the same again to triumph at the Lloyds National Track Championships 2025 in Manchester.

Matt made history this month as he became the first British man to win back-to-back overall World Cup titles in skeleton. The 27-year-old won medals in seven out of eight races on his way to retaining his crown.

Elite athletes can vote for their Athlete of the Month by heading to their latest BEAA email, with the winner to be confirmed shortly.

Former elite athletes can get involved via the British Elite Athletes Alumni app – which they can register for here.

Good luck to all four athletes!
