Cycling’s Anna Morris has won the British Elite Athletes Association’s (BEAA) Athletes’ Athlete of the Month award after breaking the women’s individual pursuit world record three times in February.
The award is presented by the BEAA on behalf of its members – athletes funded by UK Sport’s World Class Programme – and recognises competitive achievements, personal development, inspiring comebacks, charity work, and awareness-raising.
Britain’s elite sportspeople selected Anna as their winner in a month where she claimed gold in the 4km individual pursuit at both the 2025 UEC Elite Track European Championships and the Lloyds National Track Championships 2025.
The Olympic bronze medallist set a new world record twice in one day en route to her European crown, before breaking the record for the third time in a week as she triumphed at the national championships in Manchester.
Reflecting on her achievements, Anna told the BEAA: “I was really happy [with my performances in February].”
“Things just came together with for me, and I feel really lucky to have had the experience that I have the had the past month.
“We knew I wasn't on bad form, but how fast I was going to go was a bit of an unknown.
"With it being a newer distance and having to do a second ride in the day, we didn't know how being able to back up that first ride was going to go.
“I feel lucky that it all came together because sometimes in sport it doesn't, but I'm really pleased that it did and I'm just going to enjoy those moments.”
Anna faced stiff competition in February’s athlete vote, where she was up against Sabrina Fortune (para-athletics), Makayla Gerken Schofield (skiing) and Matt Weston (skeleton).
“It’s really nice [to be recognised by fellow elite athletes],” she added.
“We've got super strong athletes across the board in Britain, and I’m always proud to be able to represent my country. To have that recognition from others that are in sports across lots of different events is really special.”
Congratulations to Anna for winning and also to Sabrina, Makayla and Matt for being shortlisted.
