The British Elite Athletes Association has launched the Athlete Advisory Forum (AAF) to represent Britain’s elite athletes in high-performance system policies, as well as the strategic direction of the BEAA itself. The forum will be comprised of current and recently retired elite athletes from the World Class Programme, chaired by GB and England Hockey captain and BEAA Board member Hollie Pearne-Webb.The remaining athletes will form a diverse group spanning sports and demographics, appointed and coordinated by the BEAA. Applications are open now – more information can be found below.Athletes, stakeholders and the BEAA Board will be able to raise agenda items for the AAF to discuss, covering topics that affect elite athletes such as coaching, culture, ED&I, finances, representation, safeguarding, selection, social impact, support and welfare. With UK Sport making athlete input into policy development part of its response to the Whyte Review, AAF members will play a crucial role in representing the interests and perspectives of elite athletes within the UK, helping to foster an athlete-centric environment within elite British sport. As the representative body for Britain’s World Class Programme athletes, the BEAA hopes this development will further strengthen the athlete voice within the high-performance system.CEO Anna Watkins commented: “The experience, knowledge and input of elite athletes is vital to ensure British sport continues to progress. The Athlete Advisory Forum is an opportunity to further elevate the athlete voice and keep elite sportspeople at the centre of our decision-making, working with our partners UK Sport and other athlete commissions to shape the sporting environment for the better.
