At the British Elite Athletes Association, we are committed to ensuring all athletes are engaging in safe sport, free from harm.
Safeguarding values sit at the core of our organisation and form the basis of every decision we make. We seek to champion safeguarding throughout the high-performance sport system using our voice to proactively address and remedy concerns.
Our Head of Safeguarding, Elaine Francis, works alongside both athletes and sports to ensure that safeguarding processes are understood and being correctly implemented.
She joined the organisation in 2021, following a secondment from the NSPCC. During this secondment, Elaine led the support team set up specifically to offer end-to-end case management for children, families and elite athletes affected by allegations of mistreatment in gymnastics.
If you have immediate concerns over the safety of yourself or another individual, please contact the emergency services on 999. Details of other organisations who will be able to offer help in either emergency or non-emergency situations are available here.
Please find below the BEAA’s information on Safeguarding, which contains our procedures.
