What we do

The British Elite Athletes Association (formerly the BAC) is the representative body for Britain’s elite athletes across over 40 sports, providing support, representation and community.
We are primarily funded by UK Sport but fully independent, standing by athletes’ sides throughout their time on the World Class Programme and beyond.

Since being founded in 2004 by athletes, for athletes, our influence and standing within the high-performance system has grown, and we are proud to play a central role within British sport today.

All athletes funded via the World Class Programme are our members automatically, and do not have to pay for our services. They can contact our expert staff for support, turn to us for representation, and know that we connect the elite athlete community across sports. We are also proud to provide support to athletes in pathway sports, and a select number of sports who benefit from our involvement privately.

    Our dedicated team provides confidential, expert and independent support to elite athletes when they need us. This ranges from help transitioning out of sport to advice on a selection appeal.

    We listen to and elevate the athlete voice from day to day frustrations to wider concerns within elite British sport. We have direct contact with the athlete community and our members feel able to turn to us.

    The BEAA was formed as the British Athletes Commission in 2004 by athletes, for athletes. Our work has expanded, but our mission is the same: to stand with elite British athletes.
