The BAC has thanked Donna Fraser, Lee Murgatroyd and Lizzie Simmonds for their service as BAC Non-Executive Directors following their departure this year.

Through their roles, the trio have made great contributions to the organisation, and will now be pursuing new roles in the sporting system. Former Team GB swimmer, Simmonds, and ex-Team GB sprinter, Fraser, represented the athlete voice on the Board, whilst Murgatroyd was responsible for communications.

BAC Chair, Vicki Aggar, said:

“It’s been a pleasure to work with Lizzie, Donna and Lee. They have played an important role in the progress we have made in recent years in ensuring the BAC is a highly valued and well respected organisation in elite sport in the UK, and I would like to thank them for their contributions.”

Donna Fraser said:

“My time with the BAC has been both fulfilling and enjoyable. It has been a pleasure working with like-minded people and the BAC team who are amazing individuals, therefore making the decision to step down as a board member was not an easy one. I have no doubt the BAC will go from strength to strength and I look forward to seeing the successes from afar, but will always be a cheerleader for the BAC.”

Lee Murgatroyd said:

“The BAC plays a vital role in supporting, empowering and representing athletes and it has been great to work with Board colleagues over the last three years in helping the organisation to progress and grow.  With funding for the new cycle in place, I am sure the organisation will continue to prosper and I wish the BAC every success in the next stage of its development.”

Lizzie Simmonds added:

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time served on the BAC Board, contributing to strategic direction and athlete support programmes, and ensuring the athlete voice remains central within the organisation. The BAC continues to play a crucial role within the elite sporting system and I wish the team all the best for the future.”

The BAC board is chaired by former Paralympic rower Aggar, and made-up Chief Operating Officer, Sarah Newton, and six independent, Non-Executive Directors, recruited for their expertise.

They include Peter Crowther of international law firm, Winston Strawn; former international curler, Dougie Dryburgh; the EIS’s Director of Medical Services, Dr Rod Jaques and chartered accountant, Chris Smith. The most recent appointees, Milan Sud and Simon Freedman, oversee the BAC’s commercial activities.
