FAQ

Check our answers below to frequently asked questions by our users

Can I join the BAC?

The BAC is an independent members’ association for individuals who have represented their country (or GB) in a variety of sports. The majority of the recognised sports are the Olympic or Paralympic disciplines but our membership is NOT restricted to these sports. If you are unsure please contact us.

What are the benefits of membership of the BAC?

The BAC is here to offer advice, support and guidance to our members about anything that might be affecting them. The advice is impartial and confidential.

If necessary the BAC will help in trying to resolve any dispute either through arranging a meeting with key personnel in a NGB and / or accompanying a member should a dispute be taken to the sport arbitration service Sports Resolution UK

The BAC promotes and supports a network of active Athlete Representatives in each of our recognised sports. The BAC work with the NGBs to appoint Athlete Representatives and he/she then become the focal points of contact with the BAC and within the NGB. The BAC and UK Sport see Athlete Representation as a key aspect of good governance.

The BAC consults with our members through surveys, the Athlete Representatives and the Athlete Advisory Group so that we can engage with all the key stakeholders in sport and inform and influence their decision making processes. Our key stakeholders include UK Sport, the BOA, the BPA, UKAD and Commonwealth Games England.
